Members of It’s All Good in Delaware Inc. presented a $10,000 donation to Joe Startt Jr., president of Kent County Chapter 850, Vietnam Veterans of America, toward the training of a service dog for a Delaware disabled veteran.

“It’s an honor to participate in the CASH [Canine Assisting Service Heroes] program for disabled veterans,” said IAG Director Trent Collins.

It costs anywhere from $8,000 to $10,000 to train a dog over a year and match it with the man or women it will partner with. It's an involved process that includes follow up care for the dog.

“The heart-grabbing photo of Sully, lying beside President Bush’s casket, is a testament to the bond between these dogs and their human counterparts,” said Startt.

The contribution was made Nov. 30 at Kent County Veterans Memorial Park, Dover. The chapter works with Riedel K-9 of Dover to train the dogs.
