Wesley College Cannon Scholars presented undergraduate research outcomes Aug. 9 at the ninth annual Undergraduate Research and Celebratory Symposium hosted by the University of Delaware.

During the summer, the Wesley College Undergraduate Research Center for Analytics, Talent, and Success placed 20 science, technology, engineering and math majors in paid internship positions at various sites.

The research experience locations included Wesley College, Delaware State University, University of Delaware, Green Clinics Laboratory, Christiana Hospital, Bayhealth Hospital, Nemours/AI duPont Hospital for Children, Delaware City Refinery, the U.S. Army Center for Environmental Health Research and the St Jones Reserve. The internship projects involved a variety of research topics that the students detailed in presentation posters at the regional conference.

The NIH-NIGMS INBRE, NSF-EPSCoR, NSF S-STEM, NASA DESGC programs and Delaware support UR-CATS to fund a large number of undergraduate research opportunities during the academic year and in summer. About $125K was disbursed to support the Cannon Scholar summer 2018 interns.
