One man was hit with pepper spray in the home's driveway

Delaware State Police are investigating an incident in which several shots were fired at a residence near Hartly.

The incident occurred Monday, Sept. 3, just after midnight. Troopers were dispatched to a residence in the 2000 block of Slaughter Station Road for a report of shots being fired.

Police said a 54-year-old man from Felton was in his vehicle in the driveway of the residence on Slaughter Station Road when he was approached by two male suspects. The 54-year old man was maced by one of the suspects, while the other suspect began shooting towards the residence.

Further investigation revealed that several shots were fired towards the residence, striking the exterior siding.

During this incident, there were 10 people inside the residence ranging from ages 2 months old to 67 years old. Two of the individuals were not permanent residents at the house.

No one was injured by the shots.

The suspects could only be described as two black males who fled the scene on foot.

This case remains under investigation.
