Kent County Levy Court Commissioners recognize the supportive role libraries and librarians play in transforming lives and communities through education and recently voted to designate September Library Card Sign-up Month.

The Kent County Public Library has two specialized library cards, “My First Library Card” and Educator Cards. The “My First Library Card” allows children up to 5 years old check out juvenile items, no more than 12 at a time, with no fines for overdue materials. The Educator Cards allow public and private K-12 school librarians, teachers and homeschoolers who work in Delaware, benefits. Educator Cards may borrow and request up to 99 items, have extended loan periods and allow multiple copy request service.

Free library cards are available at the front desk of the Kent County Public Library, 497 S. New Haven Lane, Dover.
