Dover’s fourth annual Veterans Parade, set for Nov. 3, will honor Delaware’s women veterans.
The parade will kick off at 10 a.m. from the Duncan Center, 500 Loockerman St., and wind through downtown Dover, ending at the northwest corner of Legislative Hall, the site of the dedication of the Delaware Women’s Veterans Monument at noon.
The parade’s theme is “Honoring the service and sacrifice of Delaware Women who have served their country,” said Lori Christiansen, Director of Legislative Council’s Division of Research. The parade is sponsored by the Delaware General Assembly, the Department of State, Commission of Veterans Affairs, the Heritage Commission, Dover Air Force Base and the city of Dover.
Participants will line up at 8:30 a.m. Planners are considering allowing women to line up by era of service with the freedom to dress in the era they served.
No political identification or campaigning will be permitted in the parade.
Parade registration deadline is Oct. 29. The registration form can be downloaded at delawareveteranscoalition.com. Completed forms can be mailed to Colinda Marker, Legislative Council, 411 Legislative Avenue, Dover, DE 19901.
