The injured woman was treated at Bayhealth Hospital.

Detectives with the Dover Police Department are probing a late evening shooting in the city.

The incident occurred at about 9:38 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 in the area of Reed and New streets, department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

A group of people was in the area when some started shooting a gun, and the woman was hit in the arm as the crowd scattered, Hoffman said.

The 45-year-old woman was taken to Bayhealth Hospital Kent Campus by an unknown person and was treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

Police also learned an empty vehicle in the area also was hit by a single shot.

Police are continuing their investigation; anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Dover police at 736-7130. Tips may be left anonymously.
