Delaware’s Habitat for Humanity affiliates and partners marked the ninth annual Framing Frenzy build on Legislative Mall on June 7 to celebrate Homeownership Month.
AmeriCorps volunteers built the frame of a house that will be moved to Frederica and become the new home to Juliette Main and her children.
“I never thought that I would be a homeowner and be a part of this amazing program,” Main said. “Becoming a homeowner through an affordable program has given me the resources to provide for my kids and safely secure a home without a burden of a rental payment or insufficient housing. I’m able to watch my kids grow and provide a better future for them.”
The Sussex County, Central Delaware and New Castle County chapters of Habitat for Humanity were joined in a celebration by Gov. John Carney, members of the general assembly, Delaware State Housing Authority Director Anas Ben Addi, Delaware AmeriCorps volunteers, the Delaware Association of Realtors, the Home Builders Association of Delaware and Delaware Health and Social Services.
Reps. Dave Wilson, Harvey Kenton, Ruth Briggs King and Mike Ramone; and Sens. Bryant Richardson and Brian Pettyjohn also attended. A joint tribute from the general assembly was presented.
