The Delaware Symphony Orchestra’s 2018-19 concert season will open at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 in Copeland Hall of the Grand Opera House, 818 N. Market St., Wilmington.
For the opening show, David Amado will conduct “The American Dream: A Tribute to Leonard Bernstein,” featuring violinist Jennifer Koh performing the composer’s “Serenade” plus works of Americans Robert Paterson, Aaron Copland and Samuel Barber. The concert will be repeated at 3 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Cape Henlopen High School Theatre, 1250 Kings Highway, Lewes.
The 2018-19 season, which runs through May 17, 2019, will include five Classics Series concerts at The Grand; four Chamber Series concerts in the Gold Ballroom of the Hotel Dupont, 42 W. 11th St., Wilmington; and two added performances Classics Series concerts in Lewes, two explorer concerts for children in Wilmington and Dover, a family concert to be announced and educational programs throughout the state.

The remaining 2018-19 Classics Series concerts will all take place at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 9; and Jan. 25, March 22 and May 17, 2019, in Copeland Hall at The Grand Opera House. The second Lewes concert will be at 3 p.m. March 24, 2019, also at Cape Henlopen High School.
Seats for Classics Series concerts are reserved, with single ticket prices of $19, $29, $49 and $80. Tickets are $10 in any section for students ages 21 and younger with ID. Discounted five-concert Classics Series subscriptions are available until Sept. 28 for $85, $115, $215 and $360; student subscriptions are $50. Tickets for the Lewes concerts are general admission by section at $15, $25 and $35. Students 21 and younger with ID are $10.
The DSO's Chamber Series concerts, which begin at 7:30 p.m., start on Oct. 23, with “An Evening with DSO Winds,” featuring the DSO Woodwind Quintet. Subsequent Chamber Series events are at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11, violin and piano recital; Feb. 19, 2019, the DSO Percussion Trio; and April 16, 2019. The final Chamber Series concert is being presented in memory of Dorothy Chambers Flynn and will feature Amado conducting the DSO Chamber Orchestra in works of Bartók, Copland and Mozart. Tickets are $60 each, with a four-concert subscription at $220. Ticket prices include a complimentary coffee and dessert buffet at intermission, with other beverages for sale.
