Dover police are probing an early morning shooting that took place in the downtown area.

Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said that at 2:02 a.m. July 5 police were called to the area of South Governors Avenue and Reed Street to investigate a report of shots having been fired. At the same time, they learned a gunshot victim had been taken to Bayhealth Hospital’s Kent Campus with a single gunshot wound to the right arm.

The man’s injury is not life-threatening, Hoffman said.
