Attempted burglary changes for 19-year-old Dwayne A. Barnes

Police have arrested a Millsboro man on charges of attempted burglary, resisting arrest and more.

On Monday, June 25, at 7:15 p.m., troopers were dispatched to the 34000 block of Tugboat Court, in Rehoboth Shores, for a report of a disorderly subject with a gun.  There they learned that 19-year-old Dwayne A. Barnes was involved in an altercation in the road. He allegedly displayed a BB gun and attempted to break into a 21-year-old female's residence by kicking in the rear door. Rehoboth Shores security was contacted and threatened by Barnes.

Barnes fled prior to the arrival of the troopers, but was located by probation and parole officers hiding in a pond off Tugboat Court. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Barnes was charged with second-degree attempt to commit burglary, terroristic threatening, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He was later released on $12,200 unsecured bond.
