Robert D. Kellam II, 28, has been charged with resisting arrest after three-block chase.
A Dover man, identified as Robert D. Kellam II, 28, has been charged with resisting arrest after allegedly ignoring a Rehoboth Beach police officer’s attempt to get him to stop skateboarding on the town boardwalk.
Kellam allegedly led officers on a three-block pursuit before his arrest.
Department spokesman Lt. Jaime Riddle said the officer spotted Kellam riding the skateboard near Rehoboth Avenue; Kellam fled as the officer tried to contact him, nearly hitting a group of people as he did so.
Although the officer lost sight of Kellam, he was spotted by a bicycle patrol officer, still on the skateboard. Kellam again ignored orders to stop, Riddle said.
The bicycle officer was joined by another patrol officer and they were able to catch Kellam after a brief chase, Riddle said.
There were no injuries reported, although one officer’s uniform was damaged.
Kellam is charged with resisting arrest and criminal mischief then released on a $1,100 unsecured bond.
