The Dover Branch of American Association of University Women presented their 71st annual Scholarship Awards on April 16 to three local high school students.
Samuel Mace, from Smyrna High School, received $1,800 and plans to major in music production at Berklee College of Music.
Alexis Jones, from Dover High School, received $1,000 and will major in occupational therapy at Wesley College.
Cullen Kisner, from Caesar Rodney High School, received $500 and is undecided about which college she will attend to major in pre-med.
Funds generated from the AAUW Dover Days Food Booth, a holiday auction and donations from members provide funds for the scholarship program. This year, AAUW also awarded a scholarship in honor of long-time branch member Ruth Johnson. Funds for the scholarship were donated by her friends in honor of Johnson’s long time commitment to education.
