Commissioner Terry L. Pepper filed, on April 24, for reelection to the Kent County Levy Court At Large Seat.
Pepper is completing his second consecutive term on Levy Court. He previously served one term as commissioner at-large from 1994 to 1998.
Pepper cites accomplishments of Levy Court during his term: the support for the construction of the Frederica Sports Complex, which will bring about $24 million in revenue to the economy each year; the construction of the Kent County Recreation Facility/Boys and Girls Club in Dover; the opening of the Hunn Nature Park in Lebanon; and the expansion of the Kent County Paramedics service to the southeastern quadrant of Kent County.
As chairman of the Public Safety Committee, Pepper said he is working to continue the expansion of the Kent County Paramedic program to the western area of Kent County for quicker response to emergencies. He also said he wants to continue to provide a business-friendly environment. The recent opening of the Emerging Enterprise Center, which offers office space in the county complex at a nominal fee to entrepreneurs, is providing assistance to growing businesses in Kent County. Pepper said he wants to continue to work with the Kent Economic Partnership and the Greater Kent Committee to ensure the county attracts new jobs while preserving existing jobs.
Pepper is a retired Delaware state trooper. He is employed by the state of Delaware as the homeland security adviser for the secretary of safety and homeland security.
