Capital School District board members and staff raised funds for ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Dan Shelton, superintendent, saw first-hand the effects of the disease since his father was first diagnosed in 2015. During April's district board meeting, Assistant Superintendent Sylvia Henderson presented a check on behalf of Capital School District in the amount of $3,500 to Kerry Graves, of The ALS Association DC/MD/VA Chapter in memory of Charles Shelton, who lost his battle with ALS on March 30.
