The Early College High School will distribute diplomas to is its class of graduates during its commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. May 15 in the Education and Humanities Theatre on the Delaware State University campus, 1200 N. Dupont Highway, Dover.
More than 65 students will graduate from ECHS. While all have applied for enrollment at DSU, some of the first graduating class have been accepted at other institutions such as Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania.
Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester will be the commencement keynote speaker. Sen. Tom Carper also plans to attend and share his thoughts on the occasion.
The ECHS commencement audience will also hear from the valedictorian Willow Bowen, salutatorian Christiana Malone and Student Council President Giselle Lewis.
Remarks will also be given by DSU Acting President Wilma Mishoe, Provost Tony Allen, ECHS Board President Marsha Horton and ECHS Director Evelyn A. Edney.
In addition, the ECHS band and choir will perform the high school’s new alma mater. The ECHS alma mater lyrics are written by Devin Scott Mercer, the choir director; and the music arrangement is by Jovan Wilson, the band director.
