Phillip Ames is charged with two counts of harassment and possession of a controlled substance

Milford police have arrested a local man after receiving reports about a disorderly person at the town Wal-Mart store.

Department spokesman Sgt. Robert Masten said officers were sent to the store Monday, April 23 at about 8:36 p.m., where they found Phillip Ames, 29. Ames was acting peculiarly as police arrived, a condition that matched descriptions of his activities before their arrival, Masten said.

Ames was taken into custody, and a search turned up 6.9 grams of cocaine.

He is charged with two counts of harassment and possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity.

Ames later was released on a $3,500 unsecured bond pending an appearance in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas.
