Made off with cash.

Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Lewes motel that occurred Saturday evening and asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.

The incident occurred on Saturday, April 7, at around 10:30 p.m., when troopers were dispatched to the Red Mill Inn, located at 16218 Coastal Highway, for a reported robbery. An employee indicated that he was in the rear storage area, located behind the front office, when he was confronted by the suspect, who displayed a handgun. A physical struggle ensued and the employee was stuck with a blunt force object. The suspect then held the employee at gunpoint and ordered him to retrieve money from the cash register. The employee complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash before the suspect fled the scene. The employee sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment.

The suspect was described as black male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches or 5 feet 10 inches tall and 160 to 180 pound. He was wearing all dark-colored clothing.
