Allen Frear Elementary School observed World Down Syndrome Day on March 26 with Rock Your Socks Day.

World Down Syndrome Day is usually March 21, but that day was a snow day in the Caesar Rodney School District, so the school celebrated March 26. Students and staff were encouraged to wear mismatched, crazy and/or colorful socks to help raise awareness.

March 21 was selected as World Down Syndrome Day to signify the uniqueness of the triplication, or trisomy, of the 21st chromosome which leads to Down syndrome.
