Kent County Chapter 850, Vietnam Veterans of America, will hold their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge, 1584 Kitts Hummock Road, Dover.
Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month and are open to Vietnam and Vietnam-era veterans regardless of chapter membership. Chapter 850 has more than 210 regular members and 36 associate members from the community and welcomes new members. The chapter engages in various community activities, including scholarships for area high schools, a service dog program for Delaware veterans and other outreach programs.
Chapter 850 built the Kent County Veterans Memorial Park on South Little Creek Road in Dover. The site is home to memorials to Kent Countians lost in Vietnam, Korea, Middle East conflicts, and Gold Star Mothers and Families. The site also hosts a war dog memorial and a POW/MIA Chair of Honor.
