Nicholas Demarco was arrested Dec. 31 in connection with a Dec. 22 incident at Wal-Mart
Milford police have charged a Harrington man after he allegedly tried to return shoplifted goods in exchange for cash.
Department spokesman Patrolman 1st Class Mikhail Stanton said the incident took place Dec. 22 at the Milford Wal-Mart store.
Witnesses told officers they spotted a man putting several items into a bag and then returning to the store’s customer service department where he tried to return them for money. The man ran out of the store, however, after he was confronted and before police arrived. Officers identified the man as 32-year-old Nicholas Demarco and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Demarco was taken into custody Dec. 31 by Felton police and turned over to Milford law enforcement.
He is charged with theft by false pretense under $1,500, shoplifting under $1,500 and possession of shoplifter tools. Demarco later was released on $2,000 unsecured bail.
