55-year-old Mary Murphy and 32-year-old Derek Rice.

The Delaware State Police have arrested two people in connection with multiple packages from front porches in Lewes.

The incident occurred at about 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, in the 21000 block of Acorn Way in Oakwood Village at Lewes. A suspect later identified as 55-year-old Mary E. Murphy, of Lewes, was observed running up to a front porch, removing packages and fleeing in a white Kia Optima. Murphy was arrested on charges of felony theft, theft, tampering with physical evidence, falsifying business records, hindering prosecution, third-degree conspiracy, criminal mischief and two counts of third-degree criminal trespass. She was later released on $3,351 unsecured bond.

The second suspect in this case was identified as 32-year-old Derek J. Rice, of Lewes. Through investigative measures, it was discovered on Tuesday, Dec. 26, Rice was at Murphy's residence in the 22000 block of Dogwood Lane in Angola by the Bay. As troopers approached the residence, Rice attempted to flee and was subsequently taken into custody without further incident. He was arrested on charges of felony theft, tampering with physical evidence, theft, falsifying business records, hindering prosecution, third-degree conspiracy, criminal mischief and two counts of third-degree criminal trespass.  He was later released on $3,450 unsecured bond.

Also on Tuesday, Dec. 26, Murphy was arrested again for noncompliance of bond conditions and hindering prosecution. She was later released on $2,000 unsecured bond.
