One suspect still at large

Delaware State Police are investigating thefts of multiple packages from front porches in Lewes. One suspect has been arrested and a second is still at large.

The incident occurred at around 4:20 p.m.on Wednesday, Dec. 20, in the 21000 block of Acorn Way in Oakwood Village at Lewes. A suspect was observed running up to a front porch, removing packages and fleeing in a white Kia Optima.

Through investigative measures, the suspect was identified as 55-year-old Mary E. Murphy of Lewes. She was arrested on charges of felony theft, theft, tampering with physical evidence, falsifying business records, hindering prosecution, third-degree conspiracy, criminal mischief and two counts of third-degree criminal trespass. She was later released on $3,351 unsecured bond.

A second suspect in the case has been identified as 32-year-old Derek J. Rice, of Lewes. Rice is described as a white male, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 160 pounds with red hair and blue eyes.  Troopers have obtained a warrant for his arrest but have not yet been able to locate him.
