— Here Today, Gone… : 1-2 p.m. Jan. 9, 2018, at University of Delaware Cooperative Extension Office, Paradee Center, 69 Transportation Circle, Dover. Join Kent Master Gardener Bev Gemmill to learn about spring ephemerals. Participants will learn about flowering spring ephemerals, their bloom time and where to look for them.
— Claude E. Phillips Herbarium: 2-4 p.m. Feb. 16, 2018, at Delaware State University Herbarium, 1200 N. Dupont Highway, Dover. The Claude E. Phillips Herbarium is the only public herbarium on the Delmarva peninsula. It is a botanical resource center that houses a diverse collection of more than 210,000 plant materials from around the world. Curator Cynthia Hong-Wa will discuss the functions of the Herbarium, and participants will get an overview of the scientific collections that include mounted plant specimens dating back to 1799. Participants will also receive an exclusive look at other collections that highlight the importance of plants in general.
— Time to Multiply Greenery Propagation Workshop: 1-3 p.m. Feb. 21, 2018, DSU Greenhouse, 1200 N. Dupont Highway, Dover. During this workshop, DSU Horticulture Specialist Rose Ogutu will explore the many ways that we use to propagate plants. Participants will learn the basic principles for propagation. Participants can bring plant material to propagate.
