The Delaware General Assembly will host a Wreaths Across America ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 11 at Legislative Hall, 410 Legislative Ave., Dover.
State House ceremonies in the 50 states and Washington, D.C., are part of a weeklong celebration of America’s veterans and their service to the country, with a particular focus on family during the holidays.
The ceremony will include local, state and federal officials including Gov. John Carney; Delaware’s Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Carol A. Timmons; Col. John T. Knack, Commander, 436th Maintenance Group, Dover Air Force Base; Sen. Bruce C. Ennis, chair, Senate Veterans Affairs Committee; representatives of the Commission of Veterans Affairs; and local officials and organizational representatives.
A large wreath honoring all five branches of the armed forces will placed at the base of the Delaware Continentals Statue.
Additional wreaths will be laid on the grounds of Legislative Hall, at the Gulf War Memorial, the Dover Light Infantry Memorial, the World Wars I and II, the Korean and Vietnam Missing in Action Memorial and the Medal of Honor Memorial.
