The Dover Branch of American Association of University Women is offering scholarships from $500 to $1,000 to students graduating from a four-year secondary public school in Kent County.

To qualify, the applicant must be a resident of Kent County; plan to pursue a four-year course leading to a baccalaureate degree; have a high scholastic standing throughout high school; have made some contribution to the life of the high school community and show promise of becoming a valuable member of the college community and society; and have financial need.

The applicant must submit by Feb. 1, 2018, the following materials in one envelope to Scholarship Chairperson, P.O. Box 169, Kenton, DE 19955:

— Completed application form available from high school guidance counselors.

— One-page letter in which the submitter elaborates on future goals, financial need, major and the college chosen.

— Recent high school transcript.

— Letters of recommendation from two people, such as teacher, coach, clergy, scout

leader, guidance counselor or employer.

— List of any academic honors, extracurricular activities or community service on

a separate sheet of paper.
