Car and driver identified
UPDATE: The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate a fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian in Ellendale.
Through investigative measures, the vehicle involved was identified as a 2008 Pontiac G6. The Pontiac was located and revealed evidence that linked it to the crash.
Also identified was the operator, 61-year-old Parless A. Dockery, of Ellendale.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.
The Delaware State Police have released the name of the 53-year-old woman from Ellendale that was killed in the Thursday night hit-and-run crash on South Old State Road as Jacqueline Jenkins.
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian that occurred Thursday night.
The incident occurred around 10:48 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, as an unknown vehicle with an unidentified operator was traveling northbound on South Old State Road, north of Robbins Road, in Ellendale, and 53-year-old Ellendale woman was walking in an unknown direction on the east edge of the roadway.
As the unknown vehicle approached the pedestrian, its right side mirror and possibly front headlight struck her, causing her to be thrown onto the grass on the side of the road. After the impact, the unknown vehicle fled the scene northbound.
The 53-year-old pedestrian, who was wearing dark clothing and not carrying a light, was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to Milford Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later. Her name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
