25-year-old Gerald Scott was arrested.

The Laurel Police department arrested a heroin dealer on Monday, Nov. 20.

Laurel police officers were conducting proactive criminal enforcement in the area of West 7th Street and Crockett Avenue that day when they approached two loiterers. An odor of marijuana was detected and further investigation revealed numerous illegal substances in the possession of 25-year-old Gerald Scott, of Laurel. Scott possessed 377 bags of heroin, 20 oxycodone pills and $1,315 in United States currency. He was taken into custody without incident.

Scott was charged with possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance in a tier 2 quantity within a school zone and possession of a controlled substance and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $26,000 secure bail.
