Anthony J. Digirolomo was arrested Nov. 16

A Dover man has been arrested by Wayne Township, N.J., police after drug paraphernalia was spotted in his car.

Department spokesman Capt. Laurence W. Martin said the arrest took place Thursday, Nov. 16 when two officers spotted a 2004 Cadillac bearing Delaware plates being driven on N.J. Route 23. They stopped the car for equipment violations, Martin said.

The two police spotted drug paraphernalia in plain view on the car’s console, he added.

The driver, identified as Anthony J. Digirolomo of 72 Porcher St., Dover, told officers he was late for a scheduled court date and that he felt he was constantly being harassed by New Jersey police.

A passenger in the car, identified as Sarah Saunders of Wayne, N.J., did as police asked, but Digirolomo yelled at police and acted irrationally, Martin said.

The behavior continued as police seized four pills identified as Oxycodone and a sublingual strip of Suboxone. Digirolomo and Saunders were placed under arrest.

Both are charged with possession of a controlled substance or prescription drug and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Digirolomo was issued a summons for eight motor vehicle violations.

They later were released on the summons complaints.
