Philadelphia man arrested
Georgetown police arrested a Pennsylvania man after investigating a shots fired complaint at the Classic Motel.
On Sunday, Nov. 19, at around 6:30 p.m., Georgetown police were dispatched to the Classic Motel on South DuPont Highway (Route 113) for a shots fired complaint. Officers learned from the victim that a black male had driven into the parking lot in a black Ford Expedition and approached the victim, brandishing a handgun. The suspect shot in the direction of the victim before fleeing the scene. No one was injured in the incident.
The Georgetown Police Department, with assistance from Delaware State Police, located the suspect's vehicle at a residence in the Oak Orchard area and the suspect, 51-year-old David Tharp, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was taken into custody without incident.
Tharp was charged with first-degree reckless endangering, first-degree assault, aggravated menacing and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $45,000 secured bond.
