The Air Mobility Command Museum, 1301 Heritage Road, Dover Air Force Base, will welcome Tonja Anderson-Dell, author of “Gifts from a Glacier: The Quest for an American Flag and 52 Souls,” for a presentation at 2 p.m. Dec. 2.
On Nov. 22, 1952, American soldiers boarded a C-124 Globemaster aircraft at McChord AFB, Washington. The aircraft was bound for Anchorage, Alaska, and crashed enroute to that location. A rescue or recovery was deemed too expensive by the military, and these men were left to the Alaskan wilderness. Sixty years later, their fate was revealed to their loved ones and the world, though the military search for these airmen continues under Operation Colony Glacier.
Admission is free; reservations are recommended to 677-5942.
