The shooting occurred near the DSU main entrance

Two people escaped injury this weekend in a drive-by shooting on US Route 13.

Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said the incident took place at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5.

The police investigation showed the 29-year-old driver and a 17-year-old passenger were driving south in the right lane near the entrance to Delaware State University. A black four-door vehicle traveling in the same direction came up in the center lane, and someone in the vehicle began firing.

The vehicle was hit three times on the driver’s side, causing it to swerve and hit a pedestrian traffic signal at the intersection.

No injuries were reported and police have no suspects, Hoffman said.
