Delaware State Police have arrested a Felton man after he allegedly tried to escape from a trooper while driving a stolen truck.

Division spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe identified the suspect as 27-year-old Curtis L. Brown.

The incident occurred around 12:10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 as a trooper on patrol in the London Village neighborhood spotted the Ford F-150, which police later learned was stolen from the Milford area. Brown allegedly took the trooper on a chase through the neighborhood which ended when the truck failed to make a turn on Cherry Drive and hit a mailbox in the 100 block of Apple Run. The truck continued and hit a tree before coming to a stop.

Brown allegedly tried to run away but was stopped after a short chase when the trooper deployed his Taser weapon.

Brown is facing charges of disregarding a police officer’s signal, receiving stolen property valued at more than $1,500, resisting arrest, driving while suspended or revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia marijuana-related, and multiple traffic-related offenses.

Brown was committed to the Vaughn Correctional Center on a $4,555 secured bond.
