Ronnie Neal Smith was arrested Oct. 27

Maryland State Police are reporting the arrest of a Camden-Wyoming man after a collision with a state patrol car.

According to a police press release, the incident took place at about 1:44 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 as a state trooper was in the middle of a traffic stop south of Goldsboro, Md., when a black Nissan drove up and hit the police vehicle.

The driver continued on, but Maryland officers caught up and stopped the vehicle. The driver was identified as Ronnie Neal Smith, 56.

Smith was arrested for driving under the influence and cited for possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana; he also was issued a number of traffic violations including driving on a suspended license.

He is being held in a Caroline County jail on a $10,000 bond.

There were no injuries and the police vehicle sustained minor damage.
