Dover’s Donyale Hall is set to announce her intention to run as a Republican candidate for the 17th District Senate seat now held by Sen. Brian Bushweller.

Bushweller has announced his retirement at the end of his term in 2018.

Hall, who has not officially filed with the county elections commission, will make her announcement at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6 at 11 N. State St., Dover.

She is a 1987 graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, an Air Force veteran of the Gulf War and owns several small businesses with her husband.

Hall’s announcement has set up the possibility of a primary election with Dover’s Jason Stewart, who announced his intention to run for the seat Oct. 25.

Democrat W. Charles “Trey” Paradee III, who currently represents the House 29th District, formally filed for election Oct. 6.
