The Delaware Department of Transportation announced there will be lane closures on Route 1 northbound/southbound at the bridge over St. Jones River between Route 9 and Trap Shooters Pond near Dover

Work began Oct. 23 and will end Nov. 8, pending weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Eastern Highway Specialists will repair the bridge deck on Route 1 northbound/southbound.

The Route 1 northbound closures will occur from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Southbound lane closures will occur from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Nov. 6 and ending at 7 p.m. Nov. 8, the left lane on state Route 1 northbound and southbound will be closed to traffic, pending weather.

Motorists are encouraged to be aware that construction personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to the travel lanes and should expect delays.

DelDOT is committed to keeping bridges in good repair through bridge maintenance activities, including deck joint repair or replacement, painting of steel beams, concrete spall repairs, deck overlays, placement of riprap in the stream to prevent erosion, etc. These repairs can save money and extend the service life of the bridges.
