Bayhealth revealed it surpassed its $15 million fundraising goal as the Campaign for Bayhealth — Phase III, in support of the Bayhealth Sussex Campus, comes to an end.

Bayhealth Foundation President Lindsay Rhodenbaugh made the announcement during a campaign celebration on the site of the Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus, currently under construction.

In all, more than 800 individuals, families, businesses and charitable foundations have joined the fundraising effort so far.

Being built on a 169-acre greenfield site, the Bayhealth Sussex Campus will feature a 440,000-square-foot hospital and outpatient center, including expanded emergency and trauma services, cardiovascular services, additional operating rooms and private patient rooms. Nemours Children’s Health System will provide specialized care for children in a separate building on the health campus, reducing the need for residents of Sussex County to drive 90 miles or more for comprehensive specialty pediatric care.
