Officers with the Dover Police Department and Delaware Probation and Parole have arrested 44-year-old Rodney Morris on drug and weapons offenses.

The officers contacted Morris Sept. 26 in the area of Fulton and New streets during a drug investigation, Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said in a press release. Morris rode away on a bicycle but was caught a short time later in the 300 block of Cecil Street.

When taken into custody, he was found to be carrying 5.4 grams of crack cocaine, 9.3 grams of marijuana, and a loaded .40 caliber handgun.

Morris is charged with three counts of possession of a firearm/ammunition by a person prohibited, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine and tampering with physical evidence.

He was committed to the Vaughn Correctional Center, Smyrna, in default of a $32,000 secured bond.
