Delaware State University board of trustees chairwoman Wilma Mishoe was sworn in with a ceremony held Sept. 21 at the DSU board of trustees meeting.

Mishoe was congratulated by Gov. John Carney after he administered the oath of office for the leadership position.

Mishoe is the daughter of Luna I. Mishoe, the 27-year president of Delaware State College, 1960-1987.

Carney, who also swore in Devona Williams as the board recently elected vice chairwoman, remained and participated throughout most of the meeting’s remainder. University officials are currently reviewing historic record to determine if that was indeed the first time a governor actually attended the institution’s board meeting in its 126-year history.
