The Georgetown Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious package on the grass median of Route 113, north of Route 9, this afternoon.

At about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, a Delaware Department of Transportation employee who was cutting grass in the median of Route 113 notified authorities of a suspicious package. Police responded to the area and found the package lying next to a road sign near the northbound lane of Route 113, near Route 9.

As a safety precaution, all lanes of travel on Route 113 were closed temporarily between Ennis  Route 9 and Ennis Road. The Delaware State Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit was utilized to inspect the suspicious package and determined it was not harmful. The scene was then turned over to the Delaware State Fire Marshall's Office for continued investigation.

All lanes of Route 113 in Georgetown are now open.
