Some fun First State events to dive into this weekend.

1. From the sounds of ukulele punk to folk noir, four musical acts will share their talents in Smyrna.

The showcase, presented by Fairly Modest Records, features Tea Wiggs (melancholy uke-punk), Daniel. (acoustic emo), Dover resident Doyle Campagnini (folk noir) and Jeremy Bursich (noise folk). Dover native Bursich now lives in California.

2. One of the last outdoor festivals to check out this year is the free Arts & Jazz Festival.

There you’ll be able to see artwork of Delmarva’s finest artists. You can also pull up a chair and groove to some very talented jazz artists — Joe Baione, Ryan Kerberle and Catharsis, and Melissa Aldana.

Dover resident Baione, a vibraphone player, will launch the musical entertainment at noon. He’s won several awards, including “Emerging Jazz Artist” in 2005 by Philadelphia Weekly.

Next is Ryan Keberle and Catharsis. The band is led by trombonist Keberle, who spent time recording and performing with Maria Schneider, Sufjan Stevens and David Bowie.

Closing out the stage will be acclaimed tenor saxophonist Melissa Aldana.
