Mayor Robin R. Christiansen encouraged all to enjoy Dover’s Silver Lake as part of the city’s 300th-anniversary celebration Sept. 16.

Those with canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, inflatables, sailboats, row and paddleboats are encouraged to participate. Sponsored by the city’s Parks and Recreation department, there will be certificates and a prize for the first 50 people.

The city is waiving the licensing fee for nonmotorized craft for this event.

Vessels will be launched from the Washington Street entrance beach area at 10 a.m. and will paddle to the Silver Lake Bridge, State Street, and back. Parking is free; canoes and kayaks will be available for rent for those who don’t already own them.
