Some fun First State events to dive into this weekend.
1. If you’re looking for a good excuse to buy a drink (or two), the Odessa Brewfest might be your calling.
The festival will feature music, food and more than 50 breweries, including many from the Delaware area, including Blue Earl, Painted Stave Distilling, Dogfish Head, Mispillion River Brewing and 3rd Wave.
Proceeds will benefit the Historic Odessa Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure the legacy of the historic houses of Odessa.
The festivities will be held on the grounds of the Historic Odessa Foundation, 201 Main St., Odessa from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday. COST $50 general admission; $70 VIP. INFO odessabrewfest.com or 378-4119.
2. You can deal with ticket scalpers reselling Bruce Springsteen tickets for $10,000; or you can check out tribute band Bruce in the USA for a fraction of the cost.
The latter option offers a high-energy musical experience that’s note-perfect and a visually accurate recreation of a Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band show.
The band of seasoned musicians is comprised of musicians who performed with Queen, Meatloaf, Hall and Oates, The Temptations and Slash - taking this genre of performances to a new level.
Bruce in the USA will rock The Freeman Stage at Bayside, 31750 Lake View Drive, Selbyville at 7 p.m., Friday. COST $25. INFO freemanstage.org or 436-3015.
3. The cruise you’ve always dreamed of “isn’t” aboard the S.S. Gigantic!
In the dinner show “Iceberg, Ho!” the year is 1928 and the champagne is flowing, plus the guest list is brimming with celebrities and movie stars.
This includes Earl Grey Benedict Cumberbatch Radcliffe and Gloria Swansong, along with jewel thieves and cat burglars.
This ridiculous dinner show will have audiences falling out of their seats with laughter.
“Iceberg, Ho!” is presented by Ovation Dinner Theatre and will be performed at the Smyrna Opera House, 7 W. South St., Smyrna at 6:30 p.m., Saturday. COST $50. INFO smyrnaoperahouse.org or 653-4236.
