The Kent County Master Gardeners announced a series of workshops for the community from September through November, to be held at the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension Office, Paradee Center, 69 Transportation Circle, Dover.

— The Fall Garden: 1-3 p.m. Sept. 21. Bev Gemmill, Kent Master Gardener, will offer some season extending tips and information about plants that love cold weather. Free.

— Cooking from the Fall Garden: 1-2:30 p.m. Sept. 27. Karen Sommers, New Castle master food educator, will demonstrate and provide ideas for how to use produce that is in season in one’s diet. Healthy preparation techniques and recipes will be shared and participants will get to taste a recipe that uses fall vegetables. Cost is $5.

— Dividing Perennials: 1-2:30 p.m. Oct. 5. Kate Ruffer, Kent master gardener, will demonstrate how to divide hostas, daylilies, ferns and irises to help them rejuvenate and propagate. Participants are encouraged to bring their own plants to divide as well as work gloves, old steak knives and dinner forks, which prove to be helpful too. Free.

— Centerpieces for Thanksgiving: 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 17. Wendy Aycoth, Kent master gardener, will teach participants to make a centerpiece for Thanksgiving. This hands-on workshop will require a good pair of shears. The container and flowers will be provided. Limited to 20 participants. Cost is $15.
