The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit continues to investigate a shooting incident that occurred Thursday morning and resulted in the death of a 19-year-old Bridgeville man.

The investigation began around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, after troopers responded to Apple Tree Road, south of Oak Road in Bridgeville, for a report of a male with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, they made contact with a 35-year-old Georgetown man who was lying outside of a white vehicle parked on Apple Tree Road. He was suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. In a second vehicle, also parked on Apple Tree Road, north of the white vehicle, troopers found a deceased male, later identified as 19-year-old Tyron Lake, of Bridgeville.

The 35-year-old male was treated at the scene by Sussex County Paramedics before being transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and was later flown to Christiana Hospital, where he was admitted with serious injuries.

Tyron Lake's body was removed from the scene by the Division of Forensic Sciences, which determined the death to be a homicide by a gunshot wound to the lower torso.

The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Thursday morning east of Bridgeville.

The preliminary investigation determined the incident occurred on Thursday, August 24, at around 2:30 a.m., after troopers responded to the area of Appletree Road (County Road 591), south of Oak Road (County Road 594) to a report of a male subject that had been shot. The victim was treated on the scene by Sussex County Paramedics. He was then transported by EMS to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and later flown to the Christiana Hospital.

The investigation is still in its early stages and more information will be released as it becomes available.
