A standard probation check has led to the arrests of four people in Dover.

Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said officers from the department’s Street Crimes Unit and Delaware Probation and Parole arrested the four Thursday, Aug. 3, at the Capital Inn at 1426 N. Dupont Highway.

The officers were conducting probation related curfew checks when they entered a room occupied by the four men and smelled marijuana and observed a smoke-filled room. A check showed Daekwon Hoskins, 22, was in possession of a .40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine, 260.4 grams of marijuana, and a digital scale, Hoffman said.

A second man, Jameer Roberson, 19. was found with an additional 24.6 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and packaging materials.

Hoskins is charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was committed to the Vaughn Correctional Center on a $67,000 secured bond.

Roberson is charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on an unsecured bond.

Hoffman said two others, John Smith, 34, and Elijah Stewart, 24, also were arrested on outstanding court capias and released on unsecured bond pending a new court date.
