Police identified him as Marcus Thomas, 22.

A 23-year-old Dover man has been charged with first-degree vehicular homicide in the Sunday morning death of another motorist.

Marcus Thomas also was charged with a number of traffic offenses, Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

The incident took place at about 2:54 a.m. July 23 on McKee Road, between the intersection with Scarborough and West Denneys roads.

According to police reports, Thomas was driving his 2006 Nissan Altima in the wrong direction in the northbound lane of McKee Road when he collided head-on with a 2002 Honda Accord driven by Derik Pecorini, 62, of Dover. Thomas suffered minor injuries, but Pecorini was killed, Hoffman said.

Thomas also was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision, he said.

Bond information was not available at the time of the press release, Hoffman said.
