Both shootings took place in the 400 block of River Road
Dover police have arrested 22-year-old Dahhpy Brewah of Magnolia in connection with the July 20 shooting in Capital Green.
Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said Brewah was identified as the suspect in the shooting of a 37-year-old man in the 400 block of River Road.
He was taken into custody without incident, Hoffman said.
Brewah is charged with first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.
Police still are looking for a suspect in a July 19 shooting that took place nearby about nine hours earlier.
Dover police are investigating two shootings just hours apart in the Capital Green neighborhood.
The first occurred at about 7:30 p.m. July 19 in the 400 block of River Road, department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said. Officers sent to the scene to investigate a report of shots found a number of shell casings; at about the same time they learned an 18-year-old man was at Bayhealth Hospital-Kent Campus for treatment of a single gunshot wound to the lower back.
That individual was treated and released. Hoffman said he was barely cooperating with investigating detectives.
A second man was more seriously injured about nine hours later, Hoffman added.
At about 4:31 a.m. July 20, officers again were called to River Road, about a block from the scene of the first shooting. There they found a 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the upper body.
He was taken to Bayhealth and is undergoing treatment there, Hoffman said.
Witnesses told police several people were in the area at the time of the shooting, which may have resulted from an argument.
