Vietnam veteran Al Klerlein was presented with a plaque during an annual July 4 celebration hosted by Klerlein and his wife, Cheryl, at their home in Chesapeake City.

The plaque was presented by Joseph Diclement, who served in the 229th Assault Helicopter Battalion in Vietnam and who expressed his appreciation for his host’s ongoing service to his veterans and the Maryland and Delaware communities.

About 150 people attended the party, which included a fireworks display to patriotic music. Klerlein is president of Eagle Erectors, a Bear structural steel fabrication and erection company founded in 1993. He is also a member of Kent County Chapter 850, Vietnam Veterans of America and contributed to the Kent County Memorial Park in Dover.
