Kristol L. Zimmerman was arrested July 9

Rehoboth Beach police have arrested a Felton woman following a collision on the Coastal Highway Rehoboth-Lewes Canal Bridge

Department spokesman Lt. Jaime Riddle identified the woman as Kristol L. Zimmerman, 37.

Riddle said police were called to the bridge at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday, July 9 to investigate the collision. The responding officer gave Zimmerman a standard field sobriety test, which led to her arrest.

The investigation showed Zimmerman was driving too close behind another vehicle when it stopped, resulting in a rear-end collision. Although there were no injuries, police determined Zimmerman’s 2-year-old son was not properly secured in his car seat.

She is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, driving under the influence and following too closely.

Zimmerman later was released on a $1,001 unsecured bail.
