More than 1,500 Special Olympics Delaware athletes and Unified partners — peers without a disability — will compete in soccer events across the state during the next several weeks.
Events will be held from 10:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 24 at Sussex Central High School, 26026 Patriots Way, Georgetown; May 9 at University of Delaware, Newark; May 19 at Polytech High School, 823 Walnut Shade Road, Woodside; and May 23 at St. Andrew’s School, 350 Noxontown Road, Middletown.
At the competitions, athletes either participate individually or with a Unified partner in skills competitions or on Unified teams in five-on-five round-robin tournaments. More than 60 teams from all levels are expected to play in the tournaments.
High school students and other companies and organizations will volunteer at the events.
